Edward Dallas's (England) Top 5 for TURKEY!
Istanbul old centre: a hostel with a roof top terrace- 360 views of city, Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and the Bosphorus
Olympos- South coast: An Roman outpost, now a reserve- no concrete allowed so you stay in huts &tree houses. Beautiful beach, fresh water streams, old unrecorded ruins and roman buildings lying to the side of the path. Also an open air club between two huge overhanging cliffs!
Pamukale: Roman baths with white calcium carbonate rock pools. Built by Caesar for Cleopatra ( I think?) was destroyed in an earthquake- now you can swim in warm bubbly spa water, over roman columns and stones.
Fethiye: Old tombs cut into the rock (Petra-esque)
Cappadocia: Central turkey- amazing geographical rock formations, air balloon if enough money!
