My Canmore Top 5

Over recent years I’ve lived, worked and been a tourist in Canmore, Alberta. The following are some of my favourite places to visit and things to do when I'm back in this beautiful location.

The Bow River The heart and soul of Banff National Park is the Bow River. Canmore has an abundance of stunning trails that follow the Bow River. These trails are perfect for a gentle hike, leisurely bicycle ride or an ambitious run. Whatever the weather I promise you won't be disappointed by the views.

Coffee Since I’ve started travelling I’ve gradually developed a fond love for a coffee and Canmore definitely has many locations to find a warm brew. For me however The Good Earth Cafe on 8th Street has to be my favourite due to its fantastic range of drinks, tasty cakes and it's enjoyable patio to watch the world slowly pass by.

A Good Beer Well this is a tricky one to narrow down, so I’m giving you a two part answer. Canmore now has two breweries that I believe to be equal in excellence. The newest brewery is the Canmore Brewing Company that's located near the railway - You won't be disappointed by it’s range of beers on tap. I'm excited to see this place grow.

Then you have The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company on 8th Street and their main brewery is located near the highway. Their tap range is huge, their brewery tour is exciting and their food is crazy good. Something else exciting about the Grizzly is the fact they love to experiment and release new beer tastes frequently.

The Legacy Trail You can drive or take the local bus to Banff from Canmore in about a 30 minute one way trip, but my suggestion is to grab a bicycle and cycle The Legacy Trail. It will take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes to cycle this 26km route. Along the way you will be gifted with breathtaking views of the Bow River, wildlife and it's surrounding mountains - including Cascade Mountain and Rundle Mountain. As long as the weather is reasonable/good and the trail is clear to cycle you can do this anytime of the year. If you don't have a bicycle don't worry, there are plenty of places in town to rent a bicycle for the day.

Canmore Finally the best thing to do so you can discover your own Canmore is to walk and explore the town center and nearby surrounding trails. I’m always finding new trails and venues when I return to Canmore. I would love to hear about some of your fantastic experience in this must visit town.
