Freelancing can be a great way to make money while travelling. You can pick and choose your own work and set your own hours, fitting it easily around your travel itinerary. Below are just some of the different freelance jobs that you can take up while travelling.

Freelance writing

Freelance writing is one of the most common freelance jobs that people take up while travelling. All you need is a laptop and working wi-fi - you can then write from pretty much anywhere. Writing jobs could include anything from writing blog posts to writing press releases. You can get work via an agency or pick up writing jobs yourself through sites like Fiverr and Upwork. You could even start your own blog and start accepting sponsored content as an extra way of making money.

Graphic design

Graphic design is a job that similarly requires you to have nothing more than a laptop and working internet. This could involve designing anything from logos to animations. There are similar agencies that you can get work through as well as sites like Fiverr and Upwork where you can pick up such jobs.

Social media marketing

Social media marketing is another job that you can work flexibly while travelling. All you need is a laptop and connection to the internet. While some clients may want social media content to be posted at certain times, there are platforms that allow you to schedule and queue up posts, allowing you to work flexibly. You can find clients online through job sites and freelance sites. Other forms of digital marketing may also be possible to work on a freelance basis such as email marketing and web design.

Live entertainment

Are you a musician, a DJ, a comedian or another entertainer? Hotels and bars around the world are always looking for new entertainment. You may be able to travel while picking up work in hotels and bars (you may even be able to get free accomodation out of it). Alternatively, you may be able to get a busking license and find some work as a street entertainer. Just make sure to research into legal busking spots before doing this type of work.

Delivery driving

If you’re on a roadtrip and you have a large vehicle, you may be able to pick up freelance work as a delivery driver. There are sites that allow you to pick up delivery jobs in your area. You place your bid and then customers decide whether to choose you. This could allow you to travel around the country picking up various jobs wherever you go.

Ridesharing

What if you could make money picking up hitchhikers? Ride-sharing has become more popular with the rise of ride-sharing apps. Using such an app, you can find people in your area looking for a lift and get paid for it. If you’re on a road trip and you’ve got a spare seat, this could be a great way of making money along the way.
